How Nutreelife Is Serving Clean Eating From Production to Palate

At Nutreelife, we’re proud of our reputation as one of the UK’s leading plant-based manufacturers. We’re a sustainable manufacturer, from our high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients to our innovative products that are certified by The Vegan Society and recyclable packaging. But the great news is that we’ve now upped our game even further.

With our new installation of rooftop solar panels, we’re delighted to announce that we’re now off-grid and completely self-sufficient. This means we can now serve even cleaner, leaner plant-based protein bars and snacks that deliver our clean eating ethos from production to palate. Keep reading to learn more about Nutreelife’s drive to become carbon neutral.

Why it matters that we’re 100% vegan manufacturers

Our state-of-the-art production plant in Burscough, Lancashire, is 100% vegan and fully certified by The Vegan Society. So you can be assured that the protein bars and snacks we produce are made from the most nutritionally dense and sustainable plant-based ingredients, making them a healthier choice for people and the planet.

So why does that matter? Well, it matters for several reasons.

By now, most of us know that consuming high levels of red meat can increase the risk of various health issues, including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Worldwide meat production also contributes to around a third of all greenhouse gas emissions.

Those factors combined make it abundantly clear that sustainable, plant-based protein sources are the way forward if we want to tackle public health and environmental concerns.

What are the current market trends for plant-based consumers?

According to a YouGov survey, around 2% of the UK population currently identifies as vegan, with 6% of Brits leading a vegetarian lifestyle and 12% of people adopting a flexitarian approach. Perhaps unsurprisingly, younger adults are more likely to adopt plant-based lifestyles, with 18-24-year-olds the most likely to describe themselves as vegetarian (11%) or vegan (5%).

Meanwhile, research by The Grocer has revealed that younger generations are also more likely to reach for protein bars as a snack. More than half (54%) of surveyed adults aged 25-34 said they ate protein bars once a week or more, with a fifth consuming a bar daily. Of course, that data isn’t specific to plant-based products alone, but it confirms that younger consumers are certainly open-minded about their protein sources.

In a separate YouGov survey, 41% of Britons said that sustainability affected their food buying decisions ‘a fair amount’, with 14% of those surveyed saying it governed their purchasing choices ‘to a large extent’.

In other words, if you’re aiming to launch your own line of protein bars or snacks, it pays to go plant-based with an experienced, sustainable, and environmentally friendly manufacturer like Nutreelife. Speaking of the environment, we’re going the extra mile to make our production plant the living embodiment of our eco-conscious values.

What makes Nutreelife a sustainable manufacturing partner?

Did you know that our manufacturing processes here at Nutreelife are now just as lean and clean as our incredible plant-based protein bars and snacks? Technology Development Manager, Daniel Mroczak, explains: “As a plant-based brand, sustainability has always been at the heart of everything we do at Nutreelife.

“We take our environmental responsibilities seriously, which is why we’re working hard to make our production processes carbon neutral. For instance, our solar-powered installation is taking shape nicely on our factory roof, and this is one really effective way that we can contribute towards our environmental responsibilities.”

Nutreelife’s growing installation of solar panels generates an impressive 150kW of electricity daily. To put that into perspective, most domestic solar installations have a rated output of around 1-4kW of energy per day. So, as you can see, our production plant is generating some serious power. So much so that we’re now effectively self-sufficient, which is an extremely exciting moment in our history.

“We were already off-grid on the first day of testing the installation,” Dan enthused. “Whatever energy we don’t use or put back into the grid, we can store in our battery banks. This is crucial because it means that we can use more of the energy that we generate, making our operations even more energy efficient. Naturally, we’re delighted that we can use our sustainably-sourced electricity to manufacture our innovative plant-based products.”

All of our plant-based products are sustainably sourced, palm oil free and manufactured in a 100% vegan, solar-powered factory. Our products are also packaged in fully recyclable, environmentally friendly packaging and, as a Zero to Landfill manufacturer, none of our waste ever goes to landfill. Instead, our waste byproducts are either recycled or turned into animal feed.

All things considered, it’s clear that Nutreelife is the partner of choice for any aspiring or established protein bar brands that are serious about producing the most sustainable, ethical and healthiest protein snacks on the market.
